New grants available to South Kesteven businesses severely affected by Covid-19 restrictions Published: 15:00, 18 December 2020 Businesses in South Kesteven which have been forced to close or which have been severely impacted due to the Covid-19 national lockdown or tier 3 restrictions can now apply for new Government grants from InvestSK. Two programmes launching today (Friday) offer eligible businesses grant funding either to cover the period their business was required to remain closed or to support certain sectors identified as severely impacted. Businesses operating in sectors including events and exhibitions, leisure and hospitality, outdoor markets, animal care and welfare or close contact services can now apply for support through South Kesteven District Council’s Local Support Restrictions grant (LRSG open) fund.

Posted on Following the Government’s decision to place West Suffolk in Tier 2 COVID-19 restrictions, the Government has announced further grant programmes to support businesses that are financially impacted. Businesses in the hospitality, accommodation and leisure sectors who are open but who are severely impacted by the Tier 2 restrictions on socialising, can apply for a grant under the Local Restrictions Support Grant (LRSG) Open. Meanwhile, pubs and bars who do not serve table meals and so haven’t been able to open under the Tier 2 restrictions, will be able to apply for grant support under the LRSG Closed (December 2020) with West Suffolk Council given an allocation of just over £30,000 to cover the first 14 days of the Tier 2 restrictions.

When will councils pay Covid grants to pubs?

A Chester-based multiple operator has told The Morning Advertiser (MA) that he is pursuing a total of £26,335 in Covid grant funding from 15 different local authorities – with one yet to process any payments at all. Multiple operator Ian Price – whose pub portfolio comprises 16 sites across the north of England and Wales – is still awaiting £26,335 in Government grants more than seven weeks since his first payment was received in October.   Of Price’s 15 pubs in England, at the time of writing 14 find themselves under tier three restrictions while one is operating in tier two.   Speaking on 16 December, he told  The MA ​his outstanding sum comprises £12,335 in Local and National Restriction Support Grants – the first payment of which was made on 29 October – and £14,000 worth of wet-led pub bonus, with the first of the two £1,000 payments received thus far landing in his bank account on 3 December.
