Cavite residents named after the town Amadeo to get cash incentive

Published July 14, 2021, 8:23 AM AMADEO, Cavite – Bonafide residents who were named after the town “Amadeo” will automatically got cash incentives from the local government unit (LGU) as part of the municipality’s 149th founding anniversary celebration. On Tuesday (June 13), four residents who were namesakes of the town were awarded certificates of recognition and cash incentives by Mayor Redel John B. Dionisio. The annual recognition, which started in 2020, aims to boost morale and make awardees proud to be named after the town. Amadeo Municipal Tourism Officer-In-Charge told the Manila Bulletin that the LGU checked records from the Local Civil Registrar to find the town’s official namesake residents.

Two legislative measures were consolidated by the House panel during a virtual hearing held Monday, May 10. Both bills sought to address the civil registry problems confronting IPs. Members of the Makabayan bloc who authored House Bill 1332, noted that IPs are “discouraged to register their biological milestones” because they find the current registration system “not friendly to their unique ways, tradition and culture.”
