This very generous donation of $17,108 is in addition to the $20,000 that they previously donated in labour and materials costs associated with the renovation of the 2nd suite. Through the magic of technology, Ryan Plante, UBC Local 2222 Business Manager, presented the cheque to Carol Rencheck, Board of Directors Co-Chair. UBC Local 2222 has made a commitment to cover the base cost of the rent for the second suite at Huron Shores Hospice for one year. This donation of $17,108 is in addition to the $20,000 already donated in materials and labour costs associated with renovating the second suite.

UBC Local 2222 is once again offering up their expertise, labour and materials to transform the second suite at Huron Shores Hospice into a home-like setting for our residents and their families. The members have graciously offered their time to paint, widen the doorway for our new hospital bed and install new trim and fixtures. They have also offered to pay for needed materials.
“UBC Local 2222 is thrilled to be give back to our community by helping the volunteers involved in Huron Shores Hospice create that home-away-from-home for those needing end-of-life care,” said Ryan Plante, Local Union Coordinator of UBC Local 2222. “By using our skills and resources to renovate the suite, Huron Shores Hospice can put their donations directly towards the care of their residents and families. We are so happy to be able to support this dedicated team of volunteers to bring their vision to reality. We know that many residents and their families will appreciate this space
