The Washington State Department of Health has revised down the number of Whitman County residents who have died from coronavirus.
The state agency now reports that 36 people in Whitman County have died from coronavirus since the pandemic began. Public health officials in Olympia previously reported 38 deaths in Whitman County. Local Whitman County Public Health officials in Colfax don’t know why the state revised the number down.
Whitman County Public Health moved to using state coronavirus death numbers a couple of weeks ago. The two agencies had different counts for the number of deaths in Whitman County.
Three new cases of coronavirus were confirmed in Whitman County on Wednesday. There have been 3,127 confirmed cases of coronavirus in Whitman County since the start of the pandemic.
