The company was fined at Liverpool Magistrates Court, based at the QEII Courts AN ENGINEERING firm has been fined after one of its workers developed a serious respiratory illness due to exposure to welding fumes and metal working fluid over a 30-year period. PYC Engineering Ltd, based at Eastside Industrial Estate on Jackson Street, St Helens was fined £10,000 and also made to pay just less than the same amount in costs. This was after a worker developed hypersensitive pneumonitis, a serious and irreversible respiratory illness, as a result of occupational exposure to welding fumes and metal working fluid over a 30-year period.
