A preschool-aged child is recovering in hospital after contracting meningococcal in northwest Tasmania.
The child, who was diagnosed on Friday, is in a stable condition in the Royal Hobart Hospital and there is no increased risk to the community, the state s public health department says.
Information has been sent to family and close contacts, including staff and other children at the Ulverstone Child Care Centre, in the remote town of Ulverstone on Tasmania s north coast, 12km east of Penguin.
