ISLAMABAD: Pakistan on Tuesday again urged Afghan warring sides to reduce violence so that the peace process could progress.
Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi, while talking to the visiting leader of Hezb-i-Wahdat-i-Islami, Afghanistan, Ustad Karim Khalili, asked “all sides” for reduction in violence leading to ceasefire.
“The Afghan leadership should seize this historic opportunity to establish lasting peace in Afghanistan through intra-Afghan negotiations,” the foreign minister emphasised.
Ustad Karim Khalili appreciates Pakistan s role in Afghan peace process

The leader of Hezb-e-Wahadat-e Islami of Afghanistan Ustad Karim Khalili has appreciated Pakistan s positive and constructive role in the peace process of war-torn country.
He was speaking at a Public Talk organized a Think Tank in Islamabad today (Wednesday).
The Afghan political leader said peace in Afghanistan will create a situation that will benefit all countries, especially our neighbours.
He acknowledged Pakistan s efforts in the first round of the peace process as well as the ongoing talks in Doha and hoped that with this current momentum the relationship would reach new horizons.

“FM [foreign minister] reiterated Pakistan’s consistent support for a peaceful, stable and prosperous Afghanistan,” Mohammad Sadiq, the Pakistani special representative to Afghanistan took to Twitter.
According to Mr. Sadiq, foreign minister Qureshi and his country had constantly emphasized that there was no “military solution” for Afghanistan war, but “a negotiated settlement was the only way forward.”

In a meeting with the Leader of the Hezb-e-Wahdat-e Islami of Afghanistan Ustad Mohammad Karim Khalili who along with a delegation met him at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Islamabad on Tuesday, the foreign minister underscored that after the Afghans, Pakistan was the Country most desirous of peace in Afghanistan.
The foreign minister underlined that the people of Pakistan and Afghanistan were linked through immutable bonds of history, faith, culture, and traditions. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening bilateral relations with Afghanistan in all fields.
