One Delaware County jail inmate sues another over shooting © Photo provided George Harker MUNCIE, Ind.  One inmate at the Delaware County jail has sued another over a 2019 shooting. In the Delaware Circuit Court 3 suit, George V. Harker Jr. , 44, indicates he is seeking a $700,000 judgement against 37-year-old Terence Darnele Walker, who is set to stand trial April 27, in Circuit Court 5, on an attempted murder charge. Authorities allege Walker shot Harker, who was riding a bicycle, at Princeton and Harvard avenues on Aug. 23, 2019. According to Muncie Police Department reports, Walker was a passenger in a SUV and shot Harker, in the back, after accusing the Muncie man of having previously stolen his car.

The county’s seven-day positivity rate is currently at 7.7%; the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention suggest this number should be well under 5%. IU Health Ball Memorial is, as of Feb. 3, treating 35 confirmed cases, 23 of which are Delaware County residents. Health officials urge citizens to continue to follow guidelines for masks, social distancing, hand hygiene and gathering limitations, as these efforts are helping to deescalate COVID-19 in the area. In accordance with the governor’s latest executive order, events in Delaware County can now occur with attendance potentially as high as 25% of a venue s capacity, following submission of an event safety plan to the local health department and subsequent approval. Mask use and distancing requirements remain.

Pharmacy vaccination sites added as vaccine supply remains steady

An earlier version of this story stated a vaccine clinic was located at Muncie s northside Walmart. The clinic is located at the southside Walmart, 1501 E. 29th St. We regret the error. MUNCIE, Ind.  As COVID-19 numbers continue to improve throughout Indiana, vaccination appointments have increased locally, with most clinics reporting positive experiences. On Jan. 22, IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital administered its 10,000th COVID-19 vaccine. Meridian Health Services and Open Door Health Services, which started their clinics the week of Jan. 18, were both nearing 1,000 doses by their second week, and the Delaware County Health Department had distributed more than 800 this past week.
