The Pirates have won nine games in a row. Harbor Beach is now 9-1 overall and 9-0 in conference play. Leading the way for the Pirates on Tuesday were Maya Pfaff with 14 points and Paige Anderson, Maddie Geiger and Leandra Wolschleger with 9 each.

Leading the way for the Bearcats on Monday night were Kyle Sweeney and Gabe Sweeney each with 17 points and Cole Hagen with 10. Up next for Ubly is road game at Marlette on Friday. The game tips off at 7:30 p.m.

The Bearcats are now 5-2 overall and 5-1 in conference play. Ubly head coach Joel Leipprandt attributed his team’s improved play to changes the Bearcats have made since the start of the season. “The girls are adjusting to their new roles and our overall energy has been improving every game,” Leipprandt said. “Our offensive timing is getting better, as well.” Leading the way for the Bearcats on Monday night were Dajnae Leipprandt with 17 points, Josie Gusa with 9, Madeline Langenburg with 8, Kylie Maurer and Hally Zeihm with 5 each and Hailey Mausolf with 4.

The Port Hope Hotel is one such business, receiving $15,000 in grant funding and retaining two jobs in the process. Leroy Pleiness, the owner of the restaurant, plans on using the money he received to pay for wages and utility bills, which is helpful for him since Gov. Gretchen Whitmer’s curfew for restaurants is still in effect.

Now, years later, she is caring for her community as a family nurse practitioner at Scheurer Primary Care in Bad Axe. “I started watching the nurses who cared for my grandfather, and I was hooked,” Jones said. “I enjoy caring for people, making them feel better, teaching them about their illness and how to take care of themselves.”
