As the process of vaccinating the population against COVID-19 begins, state Secretary of Health Dr. Rachel Levine on Monday said Pennsylvanians must not let their guard down as the holidays approach.
Levineâs comments at a news conference Monday came as the state saw another 7,887 new cases, including 513 in Northeast Pennsylvaniaâs seven counties.
âRight now, we need people to continue those challenging mitigation efforts, those sacrifices,â Levine said.
The first doses of Pfizerâs vaccine reached 17,700 of the stateâs health care workers last week and officials anticipate another 30,225 doses will reach health care facilities this week, Levine said.
