Parolee arraigned on charges | News, Sports, Jobs

ifredregill@altoonamirror.com After allegedly discovering money and drugs in a state parolee’s house, police are charging the Altoona man with several drug-related crimes. Joshua Powell, 36, was arraigned Monday by Magisterial District Judge Daniel DeAntonio, following drug charges against his roommate, Jennifer Markel, according to court documents. The Mirror previously reported Markel was charged in two separate incidents involving significant amounts of controlled substances, including cocaine. On Feb. 12, Pennsylvania State Parole agents conducted a check on Powell, and during a search of his home on the 1600 block of Fourth Street, they allegedly discovered a significant amount of suspected methamphetamine, heroin, cocaine, ecstasy pills, drug paraphernalia and cash, police reported.

Despite retiring as a result of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, Musselman said he still cuts relatives’ hair on occasion. Mirror photo by Ike Fredregill Hollidaysburg barber Dave Musselman rebuilt his business from the ashes of the 2014 Allegheny Street fire, but in the wake of the pandemic, he decided it was time to retire. Fifty years ago, Musselman opened a “one-chair” barber shop on the 100 block of Allegheny Street, where he cut, trimmed and shaved Hollidaysburg residents’ hair for 43 years until it burned down in the multiple structure fire of 2014. Despite having reached retirement age, Musselman wasn’t ready to quit after the blaze.
