SPRINGFIELD The Effingham County Chamber of Commerce is packing a lot of support for an impending move.
The chamber was set to leave its current digs at 520 W. 3rd St. to join the Effingham County Industrial Development Authority (IDA) at 800-200 Towne Park East in Rincon. During its meeting Thursday afternoon, the IDA, whose current office is for sale and includes the chamber as a tenant, approved the relocation but a lease accord broke down Monday.

SPRINGFIELD The Effingham County Industrial Development Authority (IDA) will soon have a new home. It doesn’t know where it will be, however.
During their meeting Thursday afternoon, IDA members voted to proceed with a lease of office space at 800-200 Towne Park East in Rincon. The IDA’s current property at 520 W. 3rd St. in Springfield is in the closing stages of a sale.
“We came out of executive session and the board voted to give me the latitude to finalize a lease with the owners (in Rincon),” IDA CEO Brandt Herndon. said. “That way, I don’t have to go back to them in thirty days and say, ‘Here’s the lease,’ because time is of the essence.”

FreightCar America names new CFO
Railcar manufacturer FreightCar America (NASDAQ: RAIL) has named Terence R. “Terry” Rogers CFO, effective last Monday. Rogers has been serving as interim CFO since January.
As CFO, Rogers will lead FreightCar America’s finance activities, including its business planning, budgeting, forecasting, treasury and information technology, the company said.
President and Chief Executive Officer Jim Meyer commented in a release, “We are thrilled to have a person of Terry’s caliber join the permanent team. He is an extremely experienced financial leader and brings invaluable experience as we complete the remaining steps of our strategic repositions and look to pivot to long-term growth.”
