Apple invents Future iPhone Periscope Camera for Superior Zoom Capabilities

Apple invents Future iPhone Periscope Camera for Superior Zoom Capabilities Back in July 2020 Patently Apple posted a report titled While a Periscope Camera Module was supposed to be ready for iPhone 11, a new Rumor claims that the Project is still ongoing. Then in December a rumor report from The Elec claimed that Apple could decide to use Samsung parts for a folded lens zoom in 2022.   Today the US Patent & Trademark Office published a patent application from Apple that relates to folding camera invention with a range between 85-160mm.   Apple s invention covers a folded camera that may, for example, be used in small form factor cameras. Embodiments of a folded camera are described that include two light folding elements (e.g., two prisms, or one prism and a mirror) and a lens system located between the two light folding elements.

Apple Invents an Optical Alignment System for Future Smartglasses to ensure Optimal AR Viewing

Apple Invents an Optical Alignment System for Future Smartglasses to ensure Optimal AR Viewing   Today the US Patent & Trademark Office published a patent application from Apple that relates to head-mountable devices, and, more particularly, to an alignment mechanism for an optical assembly of head-mountable devices, such as eyeglasses.   A head-mountable device can be worn by a user to display visual information within the field of view of the user. The head-mountable device can be used as a virtual reality (VR) system, an augmented reality (AR) system, and/or a mixed reality (MR) system. A user may observe outputs provided by the head-mountable device, such as visual information provided on a display. The display can optionally allow a user to observe an environment outside of the head-mountable device. Other outputs provided by the head-mountable device can include audio output and/or haptic feedback. A user may further interact with the head-mountable device by providing in

Two display inventions reveal Apple s work on Content-Dependent Brightness Adjustment & Cancelling the Ghosting Phenomena

Two display inventions reveal Apple s work on Content-Dependent Brightness Adjustment & Cancelling the Ghosting Phenomena   Last Thursday the US Patent & Trademark Office published two patent applications from Apple that relate to electronic devices with displays. In the key patent, Apple s invention relates to displays with content-dependent brightness adjustment. The second patent relates to a cancellation architecture for cancelling the ghosting phenomena.     Apple notes in a new patent application that if care isn t taken, displays may be damaged by displaying bright content for prolonged periods of time, displays may be operated with brightness levels that consume excessive power, user preferences may not be taken into account when adjusting display brightness, and displayed content may exhibit visible artifacts. Addressing these concerns while displaying content with a pleasing appearance is challenging.

Apple updates and refines their VR Headset Finger Accessories Invention

Apple updates and refines their VR Headset Finger Accessories Invention   In October 2019 Patently Apple posted a patent application report titled Apple Patent Reveals Finger Sensory Devices that will Work with a Future Headset and Designed to be Stored Together. While VR headset designs on the market today may use VR gloves or handheld accessory devices to assist users playing games and interacting in VR environments, one of Apple s creative leading engineers, Paul X. Wang, patented finger future devices that could be placed on one or more fingers so as to accomplish the same thing.   On Thursday a rumor from Bloomberg claimed that Apple s first crack at a future headset will be in the form of a VR Head-Mounted-Device like Facebook s Oculus and not AR Glasses. This makes it more important than ever to stay updated on all current and future Apple patents on this subject matter so as to glean what features and accessories could be part of their first and subsequent VR Headsets
