The White House says it places “equity at the core” of its strategy to end the pandemic by targeting historically underserved communities, yet for weeks officials have failed to reply to communications from state leaders who say the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is suppressing COVID-19 vaccines in Texas by using unreliable data for distribution.

Officials with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services the umbrella agency that oversees government-funded shelters for unaccompanied children are assessing vacant property at Moffett to see if its facilities could be used as temporary shelters amid an influx of children and families crossing the border, NASA officials told The Chronicle last week. NASA manages the federal property.
