8 Shocking Maine Murders Guaranteed To Keep You Awake At Night
No one can really argue that, for the most part, Maine is a really safe place to live. No, I have not looked at the per capita crime rates, but the simple fact that Maine is so sparsely populated means we rarely hear about violent crime.
However, it does occasionally happen. Sadly, we do have our share of assaults, sexual assaults, and murders. As there is usually (thankfully) quite a bit of time between each of the state s murders, sometimes we forget that we have had so many.
In thinking about murders that took place in our state, we ve put together a list of some of the more shocking killings from Maine s history. The following eight murders all happened in the last 200-ish years.
Facts About the Three-fifths Compromise and What It Meant
Bottom line, the Three-fifths Compromise was adopted into the Constitution as a way for states to count slaves as part of the population for taxation and representation.
Southern states didn t want to consider slaves as human beings for federal taxation purposes, but did want them counted as people for representation purposes. The Northern states felt the opposite. They wanted slaves to count toward the population when it came to taxing the Southern states but didn t want them to count as part of the population that representation in the House was based upon.
There s one major problem with Louisiana State
Rep. Ray Garofalo Jr. (Republican) suggesting schools need to teach the good things about slavery. There was nothing good about it! What the hell is wrong with this man? How was he elected to serve the people of Louisiana? How is it Mr. Garofalo did not know that slavery (the practice of owning human beings for the sole purpose of servitude against their will) was not a bad thing?
This man has a position to change Louisiana law and pass new legislation. He is in a position of power and yet doesn t understand that kidnapping an entire race of people, forcing them to work, separating families, selling human beings like cattle, raping, beating, and murdering them was somehow not a bad thing?!
Louisiana Senate Moves To Ban Hairstyle Discrimination
Newly elected Louisiana Senator, Troy Carter (Democrat), proposed a bill to prohibit discrimination against hairstyles, which have long targeted people of color. The anti-discrimination was recently proposed by the New Orleans Senator and unanimously passed through the Senate, 60 votes to 0. If made a law, it will make it illegal to discriminate against someone because of their natural hairstyle. A widely used racist tactic based upon texture and hair styles like locs, twists, and braids would be prohibited as a means of preventing employment of people of color.
Shout out to Senator Carter for pushing the bill through, and many thanks to the senators who recognized this standing discriminatory practice should be outlawed. The new legislation would expand an existing anti-discrimination law in the state, striking down efforts by employers profiling workers based upon race, sex, religion, or national origin. Police Hating College Professor Fired From Her Teaching Position
Last week I played the audio version of a Professor from Cypress College west of Anaheim California. The audio came from her zoom discussion with her 19-year-old student who she was berating for believing that most police are heroes.
That freshman was Braden Ellis and when you see the zoom class in question you will see who acted like the adult and who acted like a spoiled rotten entitled teenager. Those of you who only heard the audio on my show will love to see the video, it just drips of the Professor’s hatred of the police and it appears human beings in general, who do not think like her.
