In the first months of the COVID-19 pandemic in the Dominican Republic, the support and accompaniment of the United States Government was key, offering technical assistance to the Dominican Government for the development of essential measures and processes to face the pandemic and design guidelines for the reopening of health services considered non-essential.
With a view to a gradual and safe reopening of the country’s economic activity, on April 7, 2020, the Ministry of Public Health requested technical assistance from the United States Government for the preparation of a document with standard and enhanced guidelines for prevention and control of COVID-19 towards a normalization and reintegration of health personnel into economic activities, guaranteeing safe environments and risk control. How long will it take to get an appointment?
We do not have an exact timeline as every case is different. We are attempting to schedule as many interviews as we can while following Dominican, CDC, and State department guidelines on proper precautions and COVID-19 safety measures. We understand the frustration of applicants who have been waiting a year or longer for an interview, but due to the high volume of immigrant visa petitions filed for Dominicans, the closure of routine visa services for the past year, and our limited ability to schedule applicants while following public health guidelines, applicants should continue to expect significant delays in obtaining an appointment. It is important to note that those who fail to attend their scheduled interview should expect extended delays before an interview can be rescheduled.

Santo Domingo, DN The United States Government, through the United States Southern Command, donated eight Hamilton T1 ventilators, which, along with the two mobile hospitals donated in September 2020, increase the Dominican government’s ability to rapidly deploy medical personnel and equipment and to care for those in need of emergency assistance during disaster response operations or health crises.
The donation, which is worth $ 200,000, is an example of the cooperation between the United States and the Dominican Republic to combat the Covid-19 pandemic.
