U.S. Department of State to purchase equipment for seismic stations in Uzbekistan AKIPRESS.COM - The U.S. Embassy Tashkent delivered approximately $14,000 of loaned equipment to the Republican Center of Seismic Forecasting Monitoring (RCSFM) under the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Uzbekistan on June 2. The RCSFM, together with the University of California, San Diego (UCSD), will install two temporary seismic stations at Karasai and Koytash, to further understanding of acoustic and infrastructure issues in preparation for a permanent station to be installed later this year. The Department of State will purchase the equipment for the permanent station planned for Karasai later this year and will also fund installation costs.

US commits to open source 5G software - Mobile World Live 03 JUN 2021 The US National Science Foundation (NSF) partnered with 35 wireless companies and associations to speed the development of open source standalone (SA) 5G software by opening a dedicated research centre. Their OpenAirX-Labs (OAX) initiative will be part of the NSF’s Platforms for Advanced Wireless Research and be located in Northeastern University in Boston. NSF explained the programme will provide a neutral, remotely-accessible laboratory environment in North America, enabling researchers to accelerate development of a stable, compliant, and performant 5G open source software stack. The facility will coordinate closely with Eurecom in France, which is conducting similar research and is part of OAX.
