As of 1 May 2021 Belarus' state debt totaled Br58.1 billion, Br0.3 billion or 0.5% up since the beginning of the year. The internal state debt amounted to Br11.7 billion as of 1 May. Taking into account differences in currency exchange rates, the internal state debt went up by Br1.8 billion or 18.2% since the beginning of the year.

MINSK, 30 April (BelTA) – As of 1 April 2021 Belarus external state debt totaled $18.1 billion, $0.5 billion or 2.4% down since the beginning of the year (taking into account differences in currency exchange rates), BelTA learned from the Belarusian Finance Ministry.
In January-March 2021 the Belarusian government borrowed an equivalent of $171.5 million, including $122.7 million from the Russian government, $40.3 million from the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD), $8.3 million from the Export–Import Bank of China and $0.2 from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and the Nordic Investment Bank (NIB).

In 2020 the Belarusian government borrowed $3,146.9 million abroad, including $1,391.5 million as bonds floated on foreign financial markets, $1,051.1 million from the Russian government and banks, $500 million from the Eurasian Fund for Stabilization and Development (EFSD), $126.2 million from the Export–Import Bank of China, $67.1 million from the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD), and $11 million from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and the Nordic Investment Bank (NIB).

In January-November 2020 the Belarusian government borrowed $2,596.4 million abroad, including $1,391.5 million as bonds floated on foreign financial markets, $541 million from the Russian government and banks, $500 million from the Eurasian Fund for Stabilization and Development (EFSD), $91.9 million from the Export–Import Bank of China, $62.5 million from the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD), and $9.5 million from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and the Nordic Investment Bank (NIB).
