If Washington’s extended ban on evictions expires at the end of March, 46-year-old Antonio Salazar could potentially lose his housing.
Salazar, a native of Mexico and 20-year resident of Redmond, worked as a chef until a few years ago when he suffered an accident that required spinal surgery. His only source of income had been workers’ compensation, which he said the state terminated a year ago, just before the pandemic set in.

Nearly a third of Louisiana s renters are behind on their rent payments, according to an analysis of U.S. Census Bureau data, and more than 69,000 Louisiana renters said they were potentially facing eviction in the next two months.
With the federal moratorium on evictions set to expire at the end of January, more than 196,000 Louisiana renters of the 621,000 surveyed are behind on their rent payments, according to the U.S. Census Bureau s Household Pulse Survey. The data, collected Dec. 9 through Dec. 21, shows Louisiana has the 13th most renters behind on payments and has the highest proportion of renters that are behind.
