Gerald Allen pre-filed a bill to address the matter ahead of the 2021 Alabama Legislative Session, arguing that the current law punishes law-abiding citizens, further restricting their constitutional rights, while detractors claim the changes to the law would put more guns on the street and pose additional safety concerns for law enforcement.
