Esquibel was arrested Aug. 9 last year by FBI agents and Pueblo police part of the Safe Streets Task Force when they raided his home with a search warrant and found guns and ammunition.
It was illegal for him to have a gun because he had been convicted in 2006 in Pueblo District Court of aggravated robbery of a Dairy Queen.
In his appeal and in his complaint against his prosecutors, Esquibel is representing himself without an attorney, as he had done at his trial last fall.
