Covid-19: Suffolk and Essex among most vaccinated areas

Suffolk and North East Essex is among the most vaccinated places in the UK - Credit: Archant Suffolk and North East Essex has again ranked among the top five most vaccinated areas of England, with 40% of adults now having received both doses. According to figures released by NHS England, the Suffolk and North East Essex Integrated Care System has now given out two doses of a coronavirus vaccine to 40.1% of people aged 16 or over – the fourth highest rate in the country. The Norfolk and Waveney Health and Care Partnership, which is administering vaccines in the north east of Suffolk, ranked second with 40.4% of adults having received both jabs.

However, the rate at which the first dose is being rolled out has slowed - and some in the over-42s category have complained of finding it hard to get local appointments and of being asked to travel to other counties.   The latest vaccination stats released by NHS England show that 28.7% of the population in Suffolk and north Essex aged 16 and over have had both doses of the Covid vaccine, putting the areas in the top five nationally.

Posted on The first dose of vaccination has now been administered to all care homes in Suffolk where it has been safe to do so. Speaking on Twitter the MP for Bury St Edmunds announced tonight, Sunday 24th January, that “all care home residents within the guidance provided” have been vaccinated in Suffolk. For the small number of cases where residents or staff were not able to be vaccinated at the point in time the team attended, or due to safety restrictions, the team will return to vaccinate them at the earliest possible opportunity. The vaccination roll-out is being overseen by Suffolk CCGs.
