HARRISBURG (KDKA) Half of adult Pennsylvanians have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
It comes as the Pennsylvania Department of Health reports 1,430 new Coronavirus cases and 40 additional deaths.
This brings the statewide total to 1,191,532 cases and 26,965 total COVID-19 related deaths since the pandemic began.
There are 1,353 people across the state in the hospital with COVID-19, and 316 patients are in ICUs.
The state says 9,969,849 total vaccine doses have been administered and 4,346,446 people are fully vaccinated. So far, 50% of Pennsylvanians age 18 and older are fully vaccinated.
Pennsylvania is adopting the CDC’s newly relaxed mask-wearing guidelines, meaning fully vaccinated people don’t have to wear masks in most places.

HARRISBURG (KDKA) The Pennsylvania Department of Health is reporting 872 new Coronavirus cases and 17 additional deaths.
The Department of Health is also reporting 1,111 new cases Sunday and 67 additional deaths.
This brings the statewide total to 1,187,115 cases and 26,833 total COVID-19 related deaths since the pandemic began.
There are 1,499 people across the state in the hospital with COVID-19, and 330 patients are in ICUs.
The state says 9,723,128 total vaccine doses have been administered and 4,204,233 people are fully vaccinated. So far, 48.8% of Pennsylvanians age 18 and older are fully vaccinated.
HARRISBURG â For the fourth consecutive week, Montgomery County and six neighboring counties in Southeast Pennsylvania recorded decreases in COVID-19 positivity rates and several met the preferred threshold indicating suppression of the virus, according to the latest week-to-week data compiled by state health officials.
Montgomery County recorded a coronavirus positivity rate of 3.8% for the period May 7 to May 13, which was a decrease from the 5.6% positivity rate recorded for the period April 30 to May 6, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Healthâs COVID-19 Early Warning Monitoring System Dashboard.
Health officials believe having a positivity rate less than 5% indicates a county is controlling the spread of the virus and keeping it suppressed. The latest data marks the first time Montgomery County fell below the 5% positivity rate in many weeks since the spring surge of the virus.
