Gender norms are social norms that define what is expected and acceptable for a woman or man in a given society. Unequal gender norms tend to disadvantage women, who are often not in charge of their own reproductive and sexual health (RSH) decisions, including their use of modern family planning (FP) methods. Amongst pastoralist communities in Kenya, women make decisions related to pregnancy and childbirth with others, influenced by perceived normative approval or disapproval. These marginalised communities have little or no access to RSH services due to a range of cultural, political, economic, and structural factors. Timber Development UK launches Sustainability Committee 25 May, 2021 SHARE Timber Development UK (TDUK) is setting out to improve on the strong sustainability record of the industry by launching a cross-sector Sustainability Committee. The committee will be tasked to identify key sustainability issues that affect the specification of timber in construction and take actions to overcome them, whether by developing information and guidance to cover these issues, or by commissioning research. Timber Development UK is the new trade body created by the recent merger of the Timber Trade Federation (TTF) and Timber Research and Development Association (TRADA). Already several key themes have been identified as requiring investigation, and sub-committees have been proposed with the following remits:
