Four candidates are running as a slate; others on ballot include former Erie School District spokeswoman, former Erie County Council member, school district advisory board panelist
The Erie School Board is getting transformed at the same time the Erie School District continues to remake itself after years of endemic financial woes.
Four seats are up for election on the nine-member School Board in Tuesday s primary, and no incumbents are running. A total of 10 candidates are on the ballot.
Lifting Erie County families from the economic shock of COVID-19 and into a new, post-pandemic future will likely be the biggest challenge for the next County Council.
And with three seats on the seven-member body up for election this year, the onus will be on voters to decide who best to meet that challenge come 2022.
In the 2nd District, Democratic incumbent Andre Horton is running unopposed both in the May 18 primary and Nov. 2 general election making his reelection a guarantee.
However, Council Chairman Carl Anderson, a Democrat, is running for county executive, leaving his 4th District seat up for grabs.

Since then, he s earned a role as Deputy National Climate Advisor to President Joe Biden u2014 and a speaking engagement during the Jefferson Educational Society s all-virtual Global Summit XII on Tuesday, May 11.
When Ali Zaidi graduated from General McLane High School in 2004, he aspired to go to med school after his undergraduate studies at Harvard College. Someone else is living that dream. It just wasn t me, said Zaidi with a smile.

Artwork made during and influenced by the pandemic is the topic of “The Pandemic Show,” the aptly named inaugural exhibition at the StopWatch Gallery & Studio in downtown Greensburg.
Opening hours will be 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday in the new art space at 323 S. Main St.
The works were created by gallery owners and spouses, Marti Haykin and Marc Snyder of Unity. The show is the first of what they hope will be many thought-provoking exhibitions.

EDINBORO, Pa. A Westfield Academy and Central School 2015 alumni has been selected to deliver the graduate address during the virtual spring commencement at Edinboro University of Pennsylvania on Saturday at 2 p.m.
Darian Switzer, who was one of the “Top Ten” in her class at Westfield Academy and Central School, will deliver the student address on behalf of the Edinboro University Class of 2021. Switzer, the daughter of Scott and Muchelle Switzer of Westfield, will be awarded a Master of Arts Degree from Edinboro University in Managerial and Leadership Communication Studies. In 2019, Switzer graduated from Edinboro University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Art Education with Cum Laude honors. Switzer has maintained a 4.0 GPA during her Masters Degree Program, and was on Edinboro’s Deans list during her undergraduate studies.
