The Entertainment Software Association (ESA) has stated that the E3 2021 show will be all-virtual this year and has already confirmed commitments from the likes of Nintendo, Xbox, Capcom, Konami, Ubisoft, Take-Two Interactive, Warner Bros. Games, Koch Media.
With the quelling of a global pandemic at sake, perhaps it is right to be cautious with plans involving huge gatherings in typically crowded indoor spaces. So the virtual event must be welcomed rather than having no event at all. Furthermore, in some ways the virtual events are better for those that couldn’t or wouldn t physically attend, as it means the companies involved make better online resources available for all to fully soak up their offerings / presentations.

The Entertainment Software Association (ESA) today unveiled the plans for the return of the yearly video game-focused event Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) following last year s absence due to the COVID-19 pandemic. As originally planned, the organization is going ahead with a reimagined, all-virtual E3 2021 that will take place from June 12 through 15.
While some reports had surfaced earlier insinuating that the event would enable paid viewing facilities, ESA has confirmed that all content from the show will be completely free to consume for viewers. For more than two decades, E3 has been the premier venue to showcase the best that the video game industry has to offer, while uniting the world through games,” said ESA CEO and President Stanley Pierre-Louis. Following reports that E3 would be returning this year as a digital event, the Entertainment Software Association (ESA) has now officially confirmed that E3 2021 will be an online-only affair: and it will be free to watch.
Taking place between 12th to 15th June, E3 will return as a reimagined, all-virtual event allowing developers to showcase their latest games and news. The ESA will be working with media partners globally to help amplify and make this content available to everyone for free, the ESA said. We are evolving this year s E3 into a more inclusive event, but will still look to excite the fans with major reveals and insider opportunities that make this event the indispensable centre stage for video games, said ESA president and CEO Stanley Pierre-Louis.
