Health Insurance: Edo govt sensitises lawyers

BENIN CITY – The Edo State Government has urged members of the state branch of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) to take advantage of the state government health insurance scheme to access quality and affordable health services. Director General, Edo State Health Insurance Commission, Dr. Rock Amegor, said this while addressing members of the NBA in Benin City, during a sensitisation programme, noting that the government is passionate about sustaining ongoing reforms in the health sector. According to him, “Edo State Health Insurance Scheme’s mandate includes providing access to quality and affordable healthcare to all residents of Edo State regardless of their economic or financial status, which will help them reduce out-of-pocket spending on healthcare.

Health Insurance Scheme: Edo mobilises religious leaders in enrollment drive

Amegor made the appeal during a sensitisation visit to St. Francis Catholic Church in Benin City. The DG said religious leaders play a crucial role in sensitising members of the public on the need to enroll for the state’s health insurance and take advantage of its benefits, considering the economic health situation of the country and the unexpected health crises that arises. He urged religious leaders to rally their members to be insured, which will assist them to spend less in accessing healthcare services, noting that the Scheme is designed to accommodate different classes of people in the society in order to achieve Universal Health Coverage in the State.

Edo seeks private sector partnership in health insurance scheme

  Director-General, Edo State Health Insurance Commission, Dr. Rock Amegor, who spoke with journalists in Benin City, said the scheme has provision for employers of labour in the private sector to offer effective, efficient, and quality healthcare services to their employees. x   He explained that major areas of interventions for the scheme include primary care through which beneficiaries could access preventive health services, outpatient services, internal medicine, pediatric care, as well as maternal and neonatal services, among others.   “As the Governor Godwin Obaseki-led administration continues to attract investors to set up their businesses in the state, it only makes more sense than private-sector employers also take advantage of the health insurance scheme for the benefit of their employees, who can access quality and affordable healthcare.
