The Wednesday prior the rate of infection was just 432.5, in comparison. The new restrictions come as Alberta has the highest number of new COVID-19 cases per week of any province or state in North America and the highest number of active cases by population of any province in Canada. On Tuesday, Alberta reported 1,743 new infections, bringing the total number of active cases to a new record of 23,623, and nine additional deaths.
