EDMOND Heritage Hall’s Owen Flynn had a clear view of Tulsa Kelley’s Tyler Hoang in the next lane. As the swimmers approached the wall at the end of the 200-yard individual medley during the Class 5A state meet, Flynn knew it was close. “It was definitely scary going in to touch the wall and seeing him right there next to me,” Flynn said. “I really had to reach for it.” Flynn finished in 1 minute, 59.91 seconds, just ahead of Hoang (2:00.04). Flynn, a junior, lost to the Tulsa Kelley senior in the prelims but bounced back Tuesday at Edmond Public Schools Aquatic Center and earned the third 200 individual medley state title of

EDMOND Kaleb Putman was loose and relaxed as he waited to compete in his races at the Class 5A swimming state meet. Wearing a cowboy hat, unbuttoned blue flannel shirt and jean shorts with a big belt buckle, he mingled with his fellow Carl Albert swimmers and exuded confidence. He had reasons to be confident. After a dominant regular season, the senior won a pair of regional titles. Putman shined again on Tuesday, winning the 200-yard freestyle (1 minute, 43.03 seconds) and 100 backstroke (52.32) at Edmond Public Schools Aquatic Center.  He also helped Carl Albert place second in the 200 freestyle relay (1:32.11) and 400 freestyle relay
