Wood River man faces charges involving 10-year-old

EDWARDSVILLE A Wood River man was charged Friday with multiple sexual abuse and assault charges relating to his victimization of a now 10-year-old girl over a two-month period.
Jacob D. Board, 29, of Wood River, was charged May 21 with attempt predatory criminal sexual assault of a child, a Class 1 felony; two counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse, both Class 2 felonies; and harmful materials, a Class A misdemeanor.
The case was presented by the Wood River Police Department.
According to court documents, between Dec. 1 and Jan. 21 Board allegedly propositioned the victim and committed several sexual acts, and showed the victim adult pornography through Pornhub, a pornography website.

EDWARDSVILLE A Florida man on Thursday was sentenced to federal prison after traveling to Edwardsville to cash counterfeit checks.
Elvin Lugo-Cales, 47, of Orlando, Florida, was sentenced to 51 months in federal prison and 3 years of court supervision after his release. In January, Lugo-Cales pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit bank fraud, use of a false passport and aggravated identity theft.
Information released by Assistant United States Attorney Luke J. Weissler stated that, on March 2, 2020, Lugo-Cales and his co-defendant, Johnny Collado, flew from New York to St. Louis for the sole purpose of defrauding banks using stolen identities. Weissler said the two were paid members of a criminal organization based in New York.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. â The Edwardsville Police Department and Kansas Highway Patrol are investigating a hit-and-run crash involving a pedestrian.
Police said the person was hit in the 9700 block of Kaw Drive.
The suspect vehicle is a black 2002-2003 Nissan Murano.
It may have moderate to severe front passenger damage and is suspected to have fled east into Kansas City, Kansas.
If you have information on a vehicle matching that description, call 911.
Police said the pedestrian suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
