On Thursday, the Otis College of Art and Design released its annual report on the creative economy in California, finding that every single sector saw substantial losses throughout the year, with over 175,000 jobs gone across the state in the past year, including nearly a quarter of the cultural workforce in Los Angeles. While in New York, a report from the state Comptroller’s Office found that employment in the creative fields had fallen by 66% in the past year.

New Covid-19 variant has scientists scurrying to investigate reinfections

According to Health Minister Dr Zweli Mkhize the new variant is called 501.V2. “This genomics team, led by the KwaZulu-Natal Research Innovation and Sequencing Platform (KRISP), has sequenced hundreds of samples from across the country since the beginning of the pandemic in March. “They noticed that a particular variant has increasingly dominated the findings of the samples collected in the past two months,”  Mkhize said.
