Westerly An accident involving a pickup truck and a motorcycle Saturday evening left one person dead, police say, and another person seriously injured.
The accident occurred shortly before 7:10 p.m. at Shore and Langworthy roads, police said in a news release issued late Saturday. Westerly police, Westerly Ambulance and Dunns Corners firefighters responded to the scene.
Arriving officers found a male and female, both of whom had been on the motorcycle, with serious injuries and provided emergency first aid until other first responders arrived, the release said.
The male was transported to Westerly Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The female was transported to the parking lot of the Walmart in Westerly, where a Life Star helicopter picked her up and transported her to R.I. Hospital Trauma Center. TEEN INJURED: A 17-year-old boy was critically injured in a two-vehicle crash Tuesday in Battle Creek. The crash was reported to Battle Creek police at 9:19 p.m. at the intersection of Washington Avenue and Emmett Street. Police said a southbound car on Washington Avenue driven by a 17-year-old girl attempted a left turn onto Emmett Street in front of a northbound vehicle. The teen who suffered life-threatening injuries was a passenger in the northbound vehicle, police said. He was taken to Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo. The driver and another passenger in the northbound vehicle and the two people in the southbound vehicle were either not injured or sustained minor injuries police said. The accident remains under investigation by members of the department s Accident Reconstruction Team.
