Inter-faith Conference for Young Women held in Islamabad

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Federal Minister for Human Rights Dr. Shireen Mazari attended the one-day “Inter-faith Conference for Young Women” in Islamabad on Thursday as the Chief Guest.
The Conference was organized by the Inter-faith Harmony Council, Jamia Ashrafia and Diocese of Peshawar, Church of Pakistan.
While addressing the audience, Dr. Shireen Mazari emphasized that our government has taken a rights-based approach to protect the rights of minorities guaranteed by the Constitution. She said that women and Minorities are amongst the most vulnerable sections of society and thus require special safeguards to ensure that their rights are protected.

Attacks by Islamist militants targeting law enforcement officials and religious minorities killed dozens of people in 2020, according to the recently released World Report 2021 of Human Rights Watch (HRW).
Gujranwala man handed life imprisonment for rape of minor

KAMUNKI: A district and sessions court in Kamunki Tehsil of Gujranwala district sentenced a man to life imprisonment on Monday, after finding him guilty of sexually assaulting a minor 18 months ago.
The district and sessions judge also slapped the convict, Tariq Yaqyub, with a Rs50,000 fine .
A case had been registered on the complaint of the 13-year-old s mother.
