Cops strike gold in raid published : 28 May 2021 at 04:00 KANCHANABURI: Authorities yesterday arrested a local gold shop owner on suspicion of laundering money for cross-border drug smugglers, and impounded assets worth about 30 million. Tanetpol Manaspiyalert, 32, was arrested when police and soldiers raided his Phet Thong Sap Thawee Lae Nalika Thong Thae Yaowarat gold shop on U-Thong Road in Muang district. He was one of many suspects sought at various locations in the province that were raided simultaneously yesterday. Narcotics Suppression Bureau chief, Pol Lt Gen Montree Yimyaem said the Anti-Money Laundering Office (Amlo) suspected Mr Tanetpol of using the gold shop to launder money for drug smugglers.
