DawnNewsTV/File ISLAMABAD: The father of a youth who was killed by officials of the capital police on Jan 2 filed a petition in Islamabad High Court (IHC) seeking direction to the prosecution for making reports of the judicial inquiry and the joint investigation team (JIT) as part of the challan submitted to the Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC). Nadeem Younis, father of Osama Satti, also sought custody of both the reports. The petitioner through his counsel adopted before the court that the JIT and the judicial probe of the incident in which his son was killed by police officials had been completed but the reports had neither been shared with him nor placed on the judicial record.

Karachi: The Leader of Opposition in Sindh Assembly Haleem Adil Shaikh, who belongs to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, was arrested after firing and violence was reported during the conduct of by-election in a constituency of District Malir of Karachi. The by-election in two constituencies of Sindh Assembly was held on Tuesday. Both the constituencies, PS-88 of District Malir and PS-43 of District Sanghar, have been won by the candidates of Pakistan Peoples’ Party ruling in the province with a wide margin of votes. The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) had to order expulsion of Shaikh from the constituency area of District Malir of Karachi during the polling when reports were received that his presence along with armed security guards had been creating problems in the smooth conduct of the poll.

Photo by Mohammad Asim ISLAMABAD: The Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) on Friday rejected the post-arrest bail applications of four lawyers arrested for storming into the Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Feb 8. ATC Judge Raja Jawad Abbas Hassan dismissed the bail applications of advocates Naveed Hayat Malik, Chaudhry Zafar Ali Warraich, Nazia Bibi and Sheikh Mohammad Shoaib. The detained lawyers in their petition maintained that the First Information Report (FIR) registered against them in connection with the Feb 8 incident was totally false, fabricated, concocted and baseless. The petition said the four lawyers were innocent and the case should be further probed. “Moreover, sections alleged in the FIR are not attracted against present petitioners.”
