Then, Pei confirmed the news himself, while stating that there would be some additional news as to what his next venture would be. Fast forward to the end of January 2021, and Carl Pei announced..Nothing. In an explanation, Pei explained that there were no hard feelings between the other OnePlus co-founder, Pete Lau, or with the company itself. But it was obvious that Pei wanted to try something new and different, compared to what OnePlus has been doing as of late. Over the last few months, we have learned a bit more about various companies and celebrity's that have backed Pei's 'Nothing' venture. But there still have been no indications as to what Carl Pei has been working on in the background. Carl Pei s new start-up Nothing has acquired all existing trademarks, logos and the branding of the OEM which was founded by Andy Rubin, the creator of Android OS. February 16, 2021 / 12:11 PM IST
Nothing, the new start-up from former OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei s new venture has acquired Andy Rubin s ill-fated hardware start-up, Essential. 9to5Google managed to find fillings at the UK intellectual Property Office that validate the transfer. Andy Rubin appears to have signed off his company to Pei s Nothing Technologies Limited as early as November 11, 2020. The process was finished on January 6, 2021.
As of now, Nothing owns all existing trademarks, logos and the branding.
Nothing, Carl Pei’s new venture is all set to reveal its first product later today. As per a report, Nothing Technologies Limited has acquired now-defunct smartphone brand Essential.
