Addis Abeba, January 06/2020 – In a speech that lasted for more than 20 minutes and delivered as part of response to questions raised by the residents of Mekelle, the capital of Tigray regional state, Major General Belay Seyoum Commander of the Northern Command, said the army knows “the problems being raised” with regard to Eritrean forces in Tigray and that “it’s painful.”
Maj. Gen. Belay’s speech followed a short comment from a man who said that the interim administration must understand its main challenge would be to facilitate a smooth relation between the region and the federal government until such times that the people elected their representatives. Thousands of families across the continent were left penniless as breadwinners lost their jobs as a result of lockdowns imposed by countries to stem the spread of COVID-19.
South Africa – the continent’s most developed and industrialized economy with the highest COVID-19 infections and deaths experienced the toughest lockdown. Millions of workers employed in non-essential services were not allowed to leave their homes for months.
