ADDIS ABABA, May 12 (Xinhua) Police in Ethiopia s eastern Somali regional state have arrested nine individuals accused of planning terror attacks, an Ethiopian official said on Wednesday.
Ali Hassen, deputy chief commissioner of the Somali region Police Commission, said the nine suspects are accused of plotting terror attacks on various religious sites in the region to coincide with the Muslim holiday of Eid al-Fatir, which will be celebrated this year on Thursday, Ethiopia Broadcasting Corporation (EBC) reported.
In a separate development on Tuesday, Ethiopian security forces arrested 71 individuals accused of plotting terror attacks in the Ethiopian, Addis Ababa, and other major regional cities.

ADDIS ABABA, May 1 (Xinhua) Suspected Oromo Liberation Army (OLA) rebels have killed 15 civilians in the Horo-Gudru Wollega zone of Oromia regional state, an Ethiopian official said on Saturday. Fifteen passengers travelling from Bure town in Amhara regional state west to Nekemte city in Oromia regional state were killed by suspected OLA rebels on Friday evening, said Berhanu Yebase, chief police Officer, Horo-Guduru Wollega zone of the state.
Yebase said the suspected OLA rebels stopped a bus carrying dozens of passengers and forced the passengers to disembark from the vehicle.
Yebase further said the suspected OLA rebel forces then shot at point-blank range the passengers, killing at least 15 and injuring several others, reported state media outlet Ethiopia Broadcasting Corporation (EBC).

ADDIS ABABA, April 9 (Xinhua) Security forces in Ethiopia s Oromia regional state have killed 14 suspected Oromo Liberation Army (OLA) rebels, state media outlet Ethiopia Broadcasting Corporation (EBC) reported Friday.
EBC reported that the 14 suspected rebels were killed during military operations conducted in the last several days in the North Shoa zone of Oromia regional state, while 163 other suspected OLA rebels and their alleged accomplices were arrested during the recent military operations.
OLA is a breakaway faction of an ex-rebel group Oromo Liberation Front (OLF).
OLF is an opposition political party claiming to fight for the rights of the ethnic Oromos who make up about 35 percent of Ethiopia s 110 million plus population.

ADDIS ABABA, March 14 (Xinhua) Ethiopia has earned 610 million U.S. dollars from Chinese built industrial parks, the Ethiopia Industrial Park Development Corporation (EIPDC) disclosed on Sunday.
Behailu Kebede, Marketing and Communications Department Chief at EIPDC, said the 610 million U.S. dollars export revenue was earned from 13 Chinese built industrial parks.
Kebede further said the 13 industrial parks have created job opportunities for more than 89,000 Ethiopians, reported state media outlet Ethiopia Broadcasting Corporation (EBC). The textiles and other export related products produced by industrial parks have garnered good reviews by European and North American customers, Kebede said.
