Suspected drunken driver dies from injuries suffered in Northern Michigan crash Updated 3:41 PM; EMMET COUNTY, MI - A suspected drunk driver has died from injuries suffered in a Northern Michigan crash. UpNorthLive.com reports that an officer with the Petoskey Department of Public Safety stopped a vehicle on Standish Avenue around 10:15 p.m. on Sunday, May 9. After speaking with the officer for about five minutes, the driver drove off in the vehicle south on Standish Avenue then continued south on Howard Road. The officer later found the damaged vehicle on the west side of Howard Road, according to the TV station.

City of Armstrong and Emmet County Sheriff’s Office Reach Deal on Policing Costs By charguth May 11, 2021 9:05 am Saga Communications Armstrong, IA (KICD)– The Armstrong City Council continued its discussion Monday night on how it would like policing to look following some disagreement on numbers presented by the Emmet County Sheriff’s Office. Sheriff Mike Martens tells KICD News the debate over costs has been resolved following some additional meeting time outside of the regular council meeting. Sheriff Martens the agreement would have the county absorbing the benefits being paid to deputies patrolling the City of Armstrong. The final agreement is expected to cost the city just under five thousand dollars a month. No official action was taken on the matter Monday evening following a request from Mayor David Grussing to table it pending the results of Tuesday’s special election.

The Emmet County Sheriff’s Office says a 78-year-old man drove west on M-68 in a 2018 Kia when he drove off the road and struck a utility pole. We’re told the man, identified as Bruce Ramsey of Alanson, was taken to McLaren Northern Michigan Hospital where he later died of his injuries. The crash is under investigation.
