NORFOLK, Va. The Foodbank of Southeastern Virginia is continuing to mix things up with how people can donate food and money to help feed Hampton Roads neighbors struggling with food insecurity.
Hunger Heroes is a food and fundraising competition open to local businesses, sports teams, social clubs, youth groups and families that kicks off on May 17, and culminates on June 11.
Community food pantry expands inside Norfolk s MacArthur Center

NORFOLK, Va. - A free food pantry at Norfolk s MacArthur Center mall is expanding.
Last year, News 3 took you inside Community Feed, a partnership between Tidewater Community College, Towne Bank and The Foodbank of Southeastern Virginia and the Eastern Shore. Originally, the service was only for TCC students, but now the food pantry is open to anyone. Shelves are stocked with fresh fruits and vegetables, proteins, non-perishable food and other household supplies.
Emma Inman, the Foodbank s vice president of programs and development, tells News 3 anchor Blaine Stewart the reason for the change.

SUFFOLK, Va. - There was a hub of activity at Booker T. Washington Elementary in Suffolk, where several volunteers were getting bags of food ready for a steady stream of families in need showing up for a drive-thru food giveaway.
Volunteers like Lakeland High School student Renazia Vinson say, It s fun and I like giving back - it makes me feel good.
In addition to student volunteers, there were teachers and other employees from the Suffolk Public Schools system helping hand out fresh produce and pre-packaged meals to folks who, in some cases, are facing challenges putting food on the table.

Cranbrook Chamber launches Holiday Giveaway Contest
This year to encourage shoppers to stay and spend local, Cranbrook Chamber of Commerce is hosting a holly jolly holiday giveaway like none other.
Purchases of $20 or more made between November 27 and December 26 at participating local businesses are eligible to win prizes valued up to $750.
“We have seen some amazing support throughout our community this year. We felt this was the perfect way to give back and promote local businesses at the same time,” said Cranbrook Chamber of Commerce Marketing Coordinator, Emma Inman.
“Our goal was to make this as inclusive and accessible as possible, while respecting and promoting health and safety guidelines.”
