Bethel Native Emma Nielsen Presents Project at Research and Creative Activity Day Written by SUNY Oneonta Emma Nielsen from Bethel participated in SUNY Oneonta s annual Student Research and Creative Activity Day event. Typically the event is hosted in a two-day, on-campus event. This year projects were presented virtually for the public to view. All presentations can be found on the Student Research and Creative Activity Day web page. Nielsen developed an original project titled  Tapeworms of Oneida Lake Fishes: Then & Now under the guidance of Florian Reyda. Created to recognize and promote undergraduate scholarship and creative activity, Student Research and Creative Activity Day has become the premier event for the scholarly student exhibition. More than 100 students, supported by faculty sponsors from a variety of academic disciplines, are virtually displayed for the public to view. Viking Women Fall To Comets In NSAA Quarterfinals

MAYVILLE – The Valley City State women’s basketball team ended its season at Mayville State Tuesday, falling in a hard-fought battle to the Comets, 56-53. Valley City State finishes the season with an 8-13 overall record and a 6-8 conference record. Mayville State (14-7) continues its postseason campaign on Thursday against the winner of tonight’s Dakota State/Presentation matchup. Macey Kvilvang set a new school record with seven blocked shots Tuesday. She also scored 10 points and grabbed eight rebounds for the Vikings. Also reaching double figures were Adriana Torres (13), Maara Nelson (11), and Taryn Dieterle (10). Torres added eight rebounds and a team-high four assists for VCSU.

Vikings Come Up Short Against #17 Trojans

VALLEY CITY, N.D. (vcsuvikings.com) – An Emma Nielsen three-pointer had the Vikings within a point of Dakota State with under two minutes to play, but Valley City State couldn’t take down the No. 17 Trojans in a hard-fought game Saturday. Dakota State finished with four free throws to seal the 87-80 victory over the Vikings and remain undefeated in conference play. The Trojans improve to 21-3 overall. Valley City State drops to 7-12 overall and 5-8 in the NSAA. Maara Nelson and Adriana Torres posted career-highs Saturday with 24 points each. Senior Macey Kvilvang added a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds. Torres and Allie Critchley each dished out five assists for the Vikings.
