A £4 million support fund has been launched to help Scots struggling with their energy bills during the Covid lockdown.
The Scottish Government scheme, which will be administered by national advice service Advice Direct Scotland, is designed to prevent households falling into fuel poverty.
The Home Heating Support Fund is open until March 31 and applications can only be made on behalf of individuals by âreferral partnersâ through homeheatingadvice.scot.

The government has set out a new strategy to protect vulnerable households and help drive down fuel poverty while reducing energy bills for “hundreds of thousands of households” in England.

It was perhaps as a consequence of all the Covid -19 uncertainty, and people being at home more than usual, that brought the issue into sharp focus as during the summer I noticed a steady increase in the number of constituents raising concerns about their electricity bills.
Cases and concerns that have been raised with me have been dealt with on an individual basis. However, as you will have seen from my recent comments, this pattern of pricing needs to be addressed in a broader manner that doesnât rely on individual people challenging their bills themselves.
