In northeast Serbia, hundreds of migrants are sheltering in the hope of being able to cross the border to Romania. The route is seen as an easier and cheaper way to reach Europe.
In an abandoned house in the Serbian village of Majdan, Seror cooks an Iraqi speciality over an open fire for her four children. She and her family are among hundreds of people from the Middle East, Africa and Asia sheltering in derelict houses in Serbia, close to the Hungary and Romania borders. Most of them are trying to get to Western Europe via Romania, which has seen an increasing number of irregular migrants in the past two years.

In recent months, young migrants have been arrested in Nice after meetings at the children s welfare office and then ordered to leave the territory. The Alpes-Maritimes department justifies these arrests as an agreement made with the police and the prefecture. Lawyers and migrant aid associations describe it as a scandal . It s a real catastrophe, says Laure Pons, a lawyer in Nice, responding to the situation. Here s recent example of a young person who arrived as a minor on French territory, in Nice. He was summoned to have his case assessed by the ASE [Aide sociale à l Enfance, the departmental service in charge of evaluating the minority of young foreigners, editor s note]. He presented himself and they evaluated his situation. At the end of this, the ASE said it did not recognize his minority and declared him to be an adult, the lawyer recounts.

The government of Cyprus is building a barrier to prevent migrants and refugees from crossing over from the northern, Turkish Cypriot part of the island. The southern, Greek-administered part of Cyprus is part of the European Union.
The government of ethnically split Cyprus has come under fire over its decision to lay razor wire along a section of a buffer zone controlled by the United Nations (UN) which divides the northern Turkish side from the internationally recognized Greek part of the island.
The government in Nicosia says the move is needed to stem migrant inflows from the island s breakaway north.

A year after the deadly clashes between migrants and Greek border guards at the Greek-Turkish border, EU lawmaker Erik Marquardt has called on the bloc to launch infringement proceedings against Greece over alleged human rights abuses against migrants.

Administrative detention center (CRA)
This concerns the following:
Undocumented migrants with an OQTF (obligation to leave French territory) and/or an IRTF (prohibition to return to French territory, a re-entry ban). These OQTF/IRTF are issued by the prefecture.
Migrants who have entered the EU in a country other than France and have to return there due to the Dublin regulation which says you have to undergo your asylum procedure in the EU country of first entry.
