Although China was not mentioned explicitly in the virtual conference room of the summit, it was, like Banquo’s ghost, very much present in all the deliberations that took place. It is precisely for this reason that India’s resolute support for the Quad shows diplomatic acumen and a sensitivity to what is good in the national interest.
