Thirty-four days, 32 executive orders. In just one weekend, CNN reported that our newly inaugurated president carried out a record 30 executive orders. These orders included re-entering the controversial Paris Climate Accord, which a 2017 study by the Global Energy Institute determined would cost the U.S. an estimated $3 trillion by 2040, along with the loss of 6.5 million American industry jobs. According to The Washington Post, 10.1 million Americans are already unemployed. Any action that could potentially lead to the loss of nearly 7 million more jobs over the next 20 years, when added to the economic crisis we currently face, should be a red flag. Not to mention that many Americans would agree the estimated $3 trillion could be put to better use in the fight against COVID-19, the drug epidemic, or rampant homelessness.
