Spring is a wonderful time of year, with warmer weather, trees blooming, grass turning green, shorts and sandals and sadly lots and lots of unwanted kittens and cats in animal controls and shelters.
In most places across America, animals mate and give birth in spring. Unlike other animals, cats can keep on reproducing, having litter after litter right up until the weather is cold again. On average, a cat can have anywhere from four to eight kittens during pregnancy. Since a cat can be pregnant several times a year, the cat population gets bigger and bigger every year. This is why it is so important to spay and neuter your cat.
