STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. Police arrested a man in connection with a fatal shooting last December on a bustling commercial strip in Tompkinsville.
Brandon Rivera, 28, of the 400 block of Van Duzer Street, was apprehended on Monday in connection with the death of Joseph Evans, 22.

Police say Joseph Evans, of Clark Lane in Tompkinsville, was walking near the intersection of Victory Boulevard and Cebra Avenue at about 4:53 p.m. when a male shooter approached on foot. Evans was shot in the arm, back and head.
Emergency medical responders transported Evans to Richmond University Medical Center in West Brighton, where hours later he was pronounced dead, according to a written statement from the NYPD’s Deputy Commissioner of Public Information’s office.
