An early morning fire apparently caused by an explosion that may have been intentional is reportedly under investigation by the Evanston Police Department and the State Fire Marshall. The explosion occurred just before midnight on June 9 in the 1400 block of Brown Avenue, just a few blocks from Evanston Township High School. Five people were rescued from the home, three of whom were treated for minor injuries.

The two were killed in a midday shooting on Hovland Court in Evanston.
Evanston police say the two men who were shot to death Friday in Evanston have been identified as residents of Glenview and Des Plaines.
Jose Francisco Sanchez Guerrero, 21, lived in the 10400 block of Deerlove Road in Glenview. Demarcus Anthony Cokley, 20, lived in the 600 block of Lee Street in Des Plaines.
They were both transported to Evanston Hospital by fire department paramedics where they died of their injuries.
A third man shot in the incident, an 18-year-old Evanston resident, suffered several gunshot wounds that were described as non-life-threatening and was treated at Evanston Hospital.
