April 18, 2021 The Escambia County School District wants students back on campus by the fall, and fask masks won’t be required. In the next school year, the ECSD will not offer remote learning, but students will have an option of enrolling in the state’s Florida Virtual School. “We need to get kids back in school as fast as possible,” Escambia County School Board Chairman Bill Slayton said during a board workshop.. “It’s so important that we get this into the hands of the parents and them knowing that (for) not only VPK and kindergarten students, but our existing students, next year will look different.”

April 13, 2021 The Escambia County School District has announced this year’s School Library Principal Advocate of the Year and School Librarian of the Year. The ECSD School Library Principal Advocate of the Year is Ernest Ward Middle School Principal Nancy Gindl-Perry. The ECSD School Library Principal Advocate of the Year is Lincoln Park Elementary School Media Specialist Laura Hobbs. They both received a plaque to display in their office or their school’s library. Nancy Gindl-Perry “Principals such as Mrs. Perry are important to the success of libraries because they control the factors that determine the quality of the school library program,” EWMS librarian Sherri Stallworth said in her nomination submission.

April 8, 2021 The mom and former assistant principal accused  along with her daughter of improperly using school district computers to cast Tate High homecoming queen votes entered a plea of not guilty in court Thursday morning. Laura Carroll, former assistant principal at Bellview Elementary School, and her 17-year old daughter, Emily Rose Grover, where charged by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement with one count each of offenses against users of computers, computer systems, computer networks, and electronic devices (a third degree felony), unlawful use of a two-way communications device (a third degree felony), criminal use of personally identifiable information (a third degree felony) and conspiracy to commit these offenses (a first degree misdemeanor).
