IMPERIAL COUNTY, Calif. (KYMA, KECY) - The Point of Entry Pilot project was launched by the Imperial County Division of Environmental Health and the Imperial Irrigation District.
Jorge a. Perez, Environmental Health Services Manager, said it started with a study that Cal State San Marcos did through the National Latino Research Center. It made broad claims about the water quality in Imperial valley; regarding the not so good water quality.
Perez says that the State Water Board questioned what actions were being taken to provide safe water to the rural residents of Imperial County who were not connected to a municipal water system .
Imperial County announces second mass vaccination clinic

EL CENTRO, Calif. (KYMA, KECY) - Imperial County leaders have announced plans for a second mass vaccination clinic.
The drive-thru clinic will be held Friday, February 12 at Imperial Valley College. Vaccines will be distributed
by appointment only. Also, only those 65 and older will be eligible for shots. The county has around 1,500 doses available.
Appointments may be made online at the Imperial County Public Health Department s website. Registration will open Thursday, February 11 at 8 a.m. PST.
Those who do not have a computer, or internet access, can schedule an appointment by calling 442-265-6700 or 442-265-7033. ICPHD has a limited number of operators, so the wait time could be much longer when using this method. ICPHD urges patience.

Recent court order lessens restrictions on religious services
YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - The most recent Officer Order from the Imperial County Public Health Department has been updated to reflect the updated guidance for religious service. In order to reduce the further spread of COVID-19, singing, chanting and wind instruments are still not allowed.
On Friday, the U.S. Supreme Court in the case of South Bay United Pentecostal Church, et al. v Newsom et al., partially granted applicant’s application for injunctive relief. This prohibited the State from restricting indoor services of places of worship under Tier 1 of the Blueprint for a Safer Economy.

More vaccination clinics will be available as the county receives more
EL CENTRO, Calif. (KYMA, KECY) - A mass vaccination drive-thru clinic is scheduled for Thursday at the Imperial Valley College for people ages 65 and older.
The Imperial County Health Department said 1,300 COVID-19 vaccines doses will be applied by appointment only.
Health officials say anyone with COVID-19 symptoms will be unable to receive the vaccine that day.
Attendees should take a picture ID that includes their date of birth, along with a face covering.
Several agencies are partnering up to offer the vaccines for the community.
